The stay was okay.
We have been here in the past so we obviously like the location in Mendip Hills. We also liked the breakfast.
The Spa has gone downhill since we last visited 7 years ago. The quality of the treatments are not what they used to be under the previous management. The family swim times are very limited and the hotel could do better to focus more on the families staying in the hotel rather than the public using the facilities. Dinner in the restaurant should be best avoided as there are plenty of other better options nearby.

Good
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room could have done with a bit of TLC and our view was of an untidy roof but the main rooms in the hotel were lovely. The pool was great and staff made sure that everyone stuck to their alloted times when some clients tried to over stay. Sauna and steam rooms are not together and require a walk through the gym. Changing rooms for pool are outside the gym reception. Changing rooms for steam room are in the gym. Breakfast was a little limited and we weren't offered any of the additional items on the menu. Pastries weren't replaced and looked like they were a couple of days old, but overall for the price it was an enjoyable stay in a quiet location. Great to be able to have a pre-booked swim in the evening and again in the morning.

Good
Beautiful building that is in desperate need of some TLC.
We were put in the furtherest room away from reception as possible in the back building and due to my mums health, she would never have got to it. The staff were amazing at rearranging another room for us which we were so thankful for. The place needs more space to lounge! Somewhere to relax away from the weddings. The whole place needs a make over/lick of paint. We had some treatments at the spa which were lovely but expensive for what they were. We left disappointed as always wanted to stay here

Good
Rowan on the front desk was amazing at explaining everything. It was convenient and the room was spacious. The bathroom was great, it was clean and it was quiet.
The bed was rock hard. I had to try and fold the duvet up on it to try and sleep. Needless to say, I didn't sleep too well. Everything was great, apart from the mattress. Sleeping was the key missing ingredient.
